My Eyes

You don't have to travel to trendy and cool spots to take Instagram worthy photos. To me, the whole point of photography is to take photos of anything and make them look different to what we actually see.You don’t even have to drive out to take pictures. Look around at home, look at objects or places you would want to work with. Maybe that fence you always pass by while walking home from school or work gives off a mood that could definitely be art. Take multiple pictures of the same object in different angles and positions. Lighting and focus will always be your friends.

One day, I decided to take my camera through the one hour and half drive to Queens, NY. Throughout the car ride, I was able to take pictures of anything that I saw which looked interesting; instead of listening to music and staring out the window. Without using flash, I was able to take pictures without rolling down the windows. If you're going to take pictures with the windows rolled up and you want them to be clear; make sure the glass is clean and does not have any fingerprints or fog because the image will appear blurry. However, if you are going for a less clear look, just simply make sure to not use flash; the flash of the camera will reflect back from the window. These photos were taken from a rolled up window.

When taking pictures of random people without their consent, never take close ups or edit the picture so defined that you're able to see the person's identity. Blur their faces or take a picture from angle where their face is not clearly seen. Also, try not to use flash when taking pictures of random people because the flash will expose you. I took a picture of this man because in that scene, no one was walking and their was a car-free block of space. He looked like he was the only person chilling on Canal Street.

Photos were taken on Nikon D3300.
