Maybe 2021 Trends
We are at that time again when everyone becomes excited with what fashion is going to bring to the table this summer. 2020 was unique and a turning point for trends.
- High fashion brands develop a statement to commit to sustainable fashion.
- Brand logos on everything
- Transparent everything
- Ugly dad sneakers that people thought they could buy from Sketchers (and then realized that that doesn’t work).
- Tiny, tinted color sunglasses that all models and influencers owned.
- Social Media Influencers starting their own clothing lines/merch.
- Awareness on fast fashion.
- Body positivity.

This year was crazy eventful, but I am content with the fact that some of these trends are dying.
So here are some of the trends we will be encountering in 2019 according to what we’ve seen so far in the media.

Neon. We just lived through an era of neutrals, and that one time we went through art hoe yellow back in 2017. Brighter colors come from the activewear brands that shaped 2018 street style and hypebeast culture. Models such as Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Bella Hadid, and more have brought this trend to life in December causing many other social media influencers and models to follow on. Designers as well are also incorporating neon into their new pieces SO expect to see some eye popping fits. Neon used to be that tacky color we used to see in the late 80s and early 2000s, however, by combining influences from other recent trends, neon works out phenomenally. Neon green works with everything this year and you will find more neon styles in stores anytime soon.
2021’s color is neon green.

Leopard and more animal print. Another pattern that was seen as tacky back then, but is coming back as chique is leopard print. We’re seeing it on jackets, coats, dresses, swimsuits, basically anything. Snake skin merely almost became a trend in 2018 so it can definitely make a stronger come back along with the leopard prints. You’ve probably already noticed popular clothing stores at malls or shopping districts stocking more items that contain some type of animal print whether it be leopard, snake, peacock, or zebra. Leopard print made its debut towards the end of 2018, when the storm of instagram models began wearing those styles. During Men's Fashion Week this January, Versace used leopard print on numerous pieces in their show.

More f@%!ing logos. 2018 was all about flexing the brands. The reason why we wear a Gucci belt is to make the statement that we are able to afford it. Many consumers want to flex those one or two high fashion pieces they own and not take the time to admire the designers. The black leather Gucci belt is utterly irritating because it ultimately does not show any of the art that is put into Gucci’s brand as a whole and they continue to do that with their other pieces. Such actions is like grabbing a trash bag and stamping a logo on it and naming it the next haute couture. Consumers should purchase high fashion clothing because of the work and creativity put into them, not because of its name. What happened to the art behind fashion?
